Save a recipe screenshot

Everyone has the folder. Six hundred screenshots, maybe forty of them food, and no way to tell which is which without scrolling past all of them.

We do not read the picture, and that is fine

There is no text recognition here. A screenshot goes in as an image with a title and whatever you type next to it, and we would rather say that plainly than promise an OCR that gets the quantities wrong.

What makes the difference is not the machine reading the picture. It is the ten seconds you spend giving it a name.

Name it the way you will look for it

Not "Recipe 14". Write what you will actually type in six weeks: "that white bean thing", "aubergine from the Turkish place", "the one Lotte sent". Those are the words that come back to you, so those are the words worth storing.

Add a tag or two and the screenshot sits in the same list as your links, your restaurant saves and everything else — filterable together, instead of buried in the camera roll.

Finding it back later

Searching covers everything on an item: the title, the ingredients, the steps, the cuisine, the city, your notes and your own tags. So you can look for what you remember, which is rarely the title.

On top of that: filter by recipe or place, by want-to-try or done, by cuisine, by city, by collection or by tag. Those filters are built from your own library, so they only ever show what you actually have.

And when you have made it

One tap marks a recipe cooked or a place visited. A score and a note are optional, and a repeat is a new entry rather than an overwrite — the second time you make something is information too.

Out of that, and nothing else, a taste profile builds up: your cuisines, your cities, your recurring occasions. Counted from what you did, not guessed at.

Questions

Can I upload several at once?: Photos attach to an item, so a batch of screenshots of the same recipe can go on one item. Different recipes want different items.
Where are the images stored?: On our own storage in the EU, tied to your account. Delete the item and the bytes go with it — not just the row.
Is a screenshot of a restaurant also possible?: Yes. An item is either a recipe or a place, and a place can carry a city and an address so it turns up on the map.

A save never fails: the link, the title and the image are guaranteed, and everything on top of that is a bonus you can correct.
